New York-based car rental startup CarRental, which is owned by the same team that founded the popular Airbnb, is getting a new investor.
The company announced on Tuesday that it had reached an agreement with an undisclosed investment firm to partner with them on the startup.
“We’re very excited to be working with a leading VC and technology company to help us scale our service to meet the growing demand for rental cars in the metro area,” said Chris Leppert, co-founder and CEO of CarRrentals.
The new investor, a company called The Motel Company, is looking for “a proven technology team that can deliver innovative, high-quality solutions for the growing market of car rental services,” according to a press release.
CarRaptors service is “not just for people renting cars,” LeppERT added.
“CarRaptals is an entirely separate service that connects people with rental cars through a simple mobile app, where users can book a ride, pick up their car, and then rent it online.”
The company also launched its own mobile app last year, which has since been removed.
It’s unclear how much of a partnership CarRortech is currently looking to make with The Motels Company.
The Motolans app was removed from The App Store in January, while the company has since launched its new mobile app.
“The Motolan app has been removed from the app store and we do not have a partnership with The Company,” a spokesperson for The Motell Company told TechCrunch.
