When it comes to gas car rental options, the Hyundai Sonata is a prime candidate to take the crown.
Its $6.7 million price tag is almost twice the price of the best-selling $639,000 Ford Focus ST, which has a similar body style and offers comparable fuel economy, while offering better comfort and convenience.
The car is also equipped with an advanced touchscreen that lets owners search for a rental car near their desired destination.
Hyundai is hoping that the Sonata will help it earn more money from rental car buyers, but its $7.7-million price tag may not be worth the premium for those who want a more reliable, comfortable ride.
Here’s a look at how the new Hyundai Sonas fare against the other vehicles in our top 20.

While the Sonati has an improved fuel economy rating, the new SUV has a lower starting price, which may be more appealing to some buyers.
We found the new Focus to be cheaper, with the $25K price tag making it slightly cheaper than the $36K price point for the Sonita.
The cost difference could be because the Focus is more expensive in terms of the materials it uses, the vehicle it’s built for, and how long it takes to build it.
The average fuel savings on the Hyundai’s fuel economy calculator, based on Hyundai’s 2017 data, is around 5 mpg.
However the average fuel cost of the new model is more than $1,000 less than the Sonaton.
