By Business Insider staff | 29 June 2018 08:10:49Car rental site amarillos.co.uk has been suspended from all services following the publication of a report detailing its poor performance over the last 12 months.
The website has been in the news in recent weeks following reports of a string of complaints about car rentals being advertised at the lowest possible rates.
Read moreCar rental sites are a popular option for consumers looking for cheap, easy to find, and reliable car rentals, but many are not as reputable as advertised.
Some of the sites advertise rates as low as £10 per day, which is actually very cheap.
However, many of the vehicles being advertised are not the best value in the market.
The majority of them are either extremely old or are completely new vehicles.
In addition, many are often poorly maintained.
Many car rental agencies have been accused of being ‘lazy’ or ‘lobbyistic’ and are less than forthcoming about their work.
The report found that car rental companies often have a bad track record of delivering quality car rentals.
Amarillo has been operating since 2013, and has since faced several major problems with car rental service quality.
According to a report from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the website is listed as having been suspended for six months in 2016, and since that time, it has been unable to get back into the UK market.
The BBB has found that many of these problems are the result of Amarillo’s poor work quality.
In 2015, the BBB was concerned that Amarillo was unable to meet the minimum standards for the UK’s consumer protection agency (CPA).
Amarillais failure to meet these standards resulted in the BBBs decision to ban Amarills website.
The company has since been fined £1,000 by the BBs watchdog and has been placed on probation for a period of 12 months, until March 2019.
Amarels website is not the only site to be suspended in the last year.
The Better Business bureau has also reported that car rentals sites were suspended from the UK and Australia in 2015, and were later reinstated after a successful appeal.
However this latest suspension comes at a time when some of the major car rental operators have seen a surge in car rental business, which has helped drive up the prices of their vehicles.
Some are now looking to invest in a car rental agency to boost their sales, but that could lead to a more expensive car rental.
