The official website for the car rental industry in Singapore has announced a major change in the way it will offer car rental services in the country.
The website will now only allow customers to book cars through the service, which will allow for a lower fee per rental.
“This change will enable us to focus on our core services of car rental and car leasing, rather than the high volume of traffic and low quality that comes from third-party websites,” a spokesperson for the company said in a statement.
“We have worked hard to improve the service quality, and this change is a significant step forward to making Singapore the preferred choice for car rental companies.”
Car rental in MalaysiaThe company that operates car rental company Caravan.com has confirmed to Business Insider that it has removed its Caravan app from its mobile apps in Malaysia.
Caravan’s app has been used by more than 4 million Malaysians, with a total of 1.9 million users.
While Malaysia’s government has said that it wants to make car rental a viable industry, its current laws do not allow it to do so.
For one, the country only allows the use of cars for personal transport, and it does not require that car rental be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
In the past, the government has allowed the use and rental of cars as a means of self-employment, though in recent years the government’s restrictions have tightened up.
